ETPIme Concept

ETPI was developed by the European Tour’s medical & performance services team to allow golfers of all abilities to make use of the knowledge that has been amassed by the Tour’s performance and medical practicioners over the past 20 years using data from the best players in the world.

“We work at a very select end of the world of golf where we’re fortunate to be working with at the leading edge of everything that’s going on, but there’s a broad base of people that underpin that and we believe that everyone can benefit from these concepts,” explains ETPI Physio unit Director Rob Hillman.

“Globally as an organisation we really want to grow the game and we want to do what we can to support that. For example, bringing our skills and experience to bear at events like this and giving the day-to-day teaching Pros some insight into what we do is great, and we hope give them some useful tools to take away which I think is a very important part of our role.”

The process which transfers the ETPI knowledge and tools to the clients is known as ETPImeTM and is designed to answer questions from the PGA Professional Coach and golfer by collecting and evaluating scientific data about the body, club and ball fight as summarised as follows:

1.1 ETPImeTM – Evaluate Swing

– PGA Professional, pupil and biomechanics specialist together record and discuss the individual’s swing, club head and ball flight characteristics.
– Identify what the coach and player want to achieve in terms of swing changes, and/or ball flight.

1.2 ETPImeTM – Take the data

– A biomechanics specialist collects biomechanics and physiology data
– Complete detailed non-intrusive physical and medical analysis
– Test muscular elasticity, coordination and strength
– Obtain biomechanical data using the latest technology and knowledge – Take swing and balance data using 3D motion analysis equipment and force platform.

1.3 ETPImeTM – Probe the Data

– Biomechanics specialist analyses data together with PGA professional to create a unique ETPI profile for each individual.
– Analyse individual’s physiological, swing and balance data together with club head and ball flight data.

1.4 ETPImeTM – Identify Solution

– Biomechanics specialist and PGA Professional tailor a solution to optimise each individual’s swing dependent on their unique ETPI profile
– Improve posture and grounding through footwear management and correction
– Improve muscular elasticity
– Improve coordination, disassociation and perception
– Tailor golf equipment and apparel to fit swing
– Improve swing movement
